Bio

Shaun Burley is a recent graduate of the Master’s in Human Computer Interaction program at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science. He has worked on research and design for sensemaking, privacy/security, and Internet of Things projects in an academic setting, receiving guidance from the professors who are leading cutting edge research in the integration of technology in human society. Before attending Carnegie Mellon, Shaun trained in user experience design in New York City at General Assembly, where he picked up best practices from industry leaders and designed for wearables, mobile, and responsive web applications. As a professional musician, Shaun performed with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra for several years before pursuing a career in technology design. He received his bachelor’s in music performance from DePaul University and believes the habits he developed in music school and on stage are a positive influence on his approach to user-centered research and design.  Shaun is looking for opportunities to apply his skills in user research, interaction design, and physical prototyping to domains he has subject matter expertise in such as music and language, or is passionate about exploring, such as finance and education.
